Dementia Carer Voices speaks to the nation

You may remember that Project Engagement Lead Tommy Whitelaw, from the ALLIANCE’s Dementia Carer Voices Project, had the opportunity to share his experiences of caring for his late mum Joan, who had vascular dementia on BBC Radio 4, last week.

During this emotional talk, broadcast on Radio 4’s Four Thought programme, Tommy spoke of the loneliness and isolation that he, and that other carers face. The programme is still available to listen to on BBC iplayer.

The response has been overwhelming, and the Sunday Herald wrote a review of the broadcast which you can read here. A storify has also been made by the incredible response on twitter, find out what others have been saying here!

For carers of people with dementia, further help and support can be found here and you can also call the Alzheimer Scotland’s 24 hour helpline for free on 0808 808 3000.
