You may remember that on the 14th April, Project Engagement Lead Tommy Whitelaw visited Livingston home care team staff to deliver our flagship campaign ‘You Can Make a Difference’ to a new cohort of staff.
Inspired by carers’ experiences, Livingston Care Home staff created their own permanent pledge tree to remind staff of their commitment and encourage values based reflection.
Tommy went along to the launch of the pledge tree to celebrate their commitment to the campaign and all of the wonderful pledges made by staff. Speaking about the day Tommy said “Carers tell us that a little bit of time, listening and understanding can make an unimaginable difference during what can be a very difficult and lonely journey. The pledges that we have received have been truly inspiring, and we’re looking forward to working with people and seeing those pledges fulfilled.”
Children from the local school were also invited to take part in creating the tree, demonstrating how our campaign reaches the entire community embedding the message that everyone can make a difference to the lives of someone with dementia, their family, and carers. We look forward to watching their pledge tree grow, and for their sister sites to create their own trees in Stirling.
Thank you so much to Paula from Care Watch who organised and invited us along for the day, and for taking part in our What Matters to You Case Study! Read Paula’s case study here and listen to her podcast.
Lastly, thank you the staff and the talented artists for taking the time to create this inspiring pledge tree and for really taking the campaign to heart.
It’s great to see that Care Watch have now launched a ‘What matters to you’ and ‘Who mattes to you’ as a pledge wall at their sister site in Stirling, which also involved children from the local school. Here are photos of the launch in Stirling, and we’re also looking forward to the launch in Glenrothes!
