Tuesday 12th August saw Dementia Carer Voices head to Anam Cara on our very own Tommy`s birthday. Making the day even more special and exciting.
It is with great pleasure to thank Clare Mills, who is the manager of Anam Cara Dementia Respite Services for the inviting the team to the centre, which was also Clare`s birthday making it a double celebration. Happy birthday to all you other 12th of August babies out there 🙂
There was a great turnout from people involved in care from all across Ayrshire including the wonderful staff who work there, district nursing and community support teams and great supporters of our project Anthea Dickson Council Lead for Health and Social Care at North Ayrshire Council. Our good friend Derek Barron Associate Director of Nursing NHSAAA, also came to celebrate. Derek kindy gave a short talk on the pledges they have at NHAAA.
The 40 personal pledges we received are inspiring and will added be on display at the services on a specially commissioned carving (you can read more on this at the bottom of the page )
Thank you Clare and all at Anam Cara for such a wonderful inspiring day and we look forward to attending the unveiling very soon.
Anam Cara Ayrshire:
The Make a Difference campaign has been taken forward by many individuals who have shared the campaign and actively encouraged others to do so. Claire Mills, who is the manager of Anam Cara Dementia Respite Services has organised an incredible day to inspire people to make a pledge to make a difference.
They have arranged to host an afternoon tea session where Tommy will give an awareness talk and people will then have a chance to ask questions but in a more relaxed and informal setting. To make room for their adapted housing, the centre had to have cherry trees cut down, and are using the wood from these trees to make hiring a woodcarver to make a huge jigsaw spelling out Anam Cara with each letter made up of engraved pledges, celebrating their commitment to making a difference and encouraging people to participate.
Thank you Irene, Tommy, Sarah and Laura 🙂
