Belford Hospital, Fort William make their pledges to #DCV

Thank you to Ruth Mantle, Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Nurse Consultant for organising yesterdays event at Belford Hospital in Fort William.  Dementia Carer Voices where invited to attend and speak at day 2 of a training event hosted by Ruth, giving us a chance to discuss the rest of the tour.

Dementia Carer Voices will be touring more dates for NHS Highland:

 

27th OCTOBER – CAITHNESS GENERAL HOSPITAL, (CGH) Wick

28th OCTOBER – CENTRE FOR HEALTH SCIENCES,  INVERNESS

29th OCTOBER – FORT WILLIAM

30th OCTOBER – LORN & ISLANDS HOSPITAL, OBAN

Here are the amazing pledges from yesterday, big thanks to everyone for supporting #makeadifference

My pledge is to listen to cares more and encourage colleagues to talk to them to know the person living with dementia and your families – Sheila Norris

I pledge to do my best to reduce the amount of negative letters you will receive from this area – Vincent Hoctrust

My pledge as a staff nurse is to stop and think about how and what I am saying when looking after any of my patients with dementia – Annie Norman

I pledge to always ask the people I care for (in and out of work) about their life/love story is – Rebecca Draper

To spend available time talking to patients and their families and cares.  To listen to them and to hear their voice – Margaret Johnston

To spend more time with our patients who have dementia and not rush them.  To always remember they might be scared or lonely – Lorraine MacDonald
